Bone density, or bone mineral density, is the amount of bone mineral, mostly calcium and phosphorous in bone tissue.
SYMPTOMS OF LOW BONE DENSITY
OSTEOPOROSIS
Osteocytes, the cells residing within the bone matrix and comprising 90% to 95% of the all bone cells. They play a key role in BONE METABOLISM. The Osteocytes are affected by the female hormones Estrogens. Estrogens control the Osteocytes and prevent bone destruction by Osteoclasts and promote bone formation by Osteoblasts.
Few Years before Menopause - Oestrogen levels begin to fall. In Males this doesn't change suddenly and there is a gradual change.
Osteoblasts promote bone formations. The Osteoblasts are not able to keep up with Osteoclasts due to fall in the oestrogen levels.
There is a GRADUAL DECREASE IN BONE DENSITY leading to OSTEOPOROSIS.
CAUSES OF LOW BONE DENSITY
Low Bone density is a condition leading to the decline in Bone Minerals leading to weak and fractured bones.
Smoking.
Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol.
Low physical activity.
Poor diet, low in vitamins and calcium.
Changes in hormones (from smoking or menopause)
Age.
Medical conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, chronic kidney disease, Diabetes, Celiac Disease, Hyperthyroidism, Lupus (a disease that occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs), Multiple Sclerosis (a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system)).
Poor diet : Low Calcium and Vitamin D intake
Lack of Strength Workouts

1. Stooped back / decreasing height
2. Loss of WEIGHT over the period of time.
3. Loss of HEIGHT over the period of time - sign of OSTEOPOROSIS
4. Bone BREAKS very easily.
